I have completed my move to wordpress. I completed the move of my blog last night with the help of Sean’s little utility, blogcfc2wordpress. I had to install wamp on my windows coldfusion box, I also had to download an old version of wordpress (2.1) as somewhere along the lines the database names were changed and blogcfc2wordpress has not been updated. I then downloaded WordPress Export, exported my data and imported it into my new blog. I fixed the post that I used blogcfc’s more and code tags on. All in all a pretty easy migration with a little data massage.

Spent the last hour upgrading to BlogCFC 5.9.1.001 from 5.9. This is my first upgrade since switching over to BlogCFC back in October 2007. The upgrade went pretty smooth, I did have to make some SQL changes but as always the documentation was well done. The really benefit I wanted was the one click kill comment in email that was introduced in 5.9.1. If you do not know about this it allows you to click the spam comments with a link in the admin email saving you from needing to login.

Add your photo next to your blog comments. Not all blogs are using it but it is built into blogcfc. Head over to http://site.gravatar.com/ to create your “globally recognized avatar” and have your photo displayed next to your blog comments.

I have been playing around with Ray Camden’s BlogCFC for the past few weeks. I am planning on moving over from BlogCFM. One think that I really wanted with my new blog was the ability to easily update links in my blog roll. BlogCFC did not have this out the box, but I came up with a very easy whay of doing this. Using BlogCFC’s Textblocks feature I created a textblok called “blog roll”. Next I created a pod called blogroll.cfm and called my blog roll text block using

Now all I have to do is update the links in my blog roll textblock, refresh blog cache and my blog roll is updated.
